As a Junior Appian Developer at Barclays, you will join the Risk, Finance and Treasury Technology Team where you will participate in the execution of a range of programmes and processes of key business significance. Specifically, you will support the design, implementation and maintenance of the Bank’s applications and analytic tools based on the Appian platform growing your knowledge of these tools and applications throughout your career journey with us. To be successful as a Junior Appian Developer, you should have experience in: ● Development in object-oriented programming, specifically JavaJ2EE or Python ● Working knowledge with SQL, query editing and performance tuning ● SDLC, including environment configuration, code deployment process and testing of enterprise applications ● Working on cross-functional teams building products using Agile methodologies Some other highly valued skills include: ● Some previous experience as an Appian Designer & Developer (preferred) ● Willingness to learn new programming skills, business processes and become a fully trained Appian Developer ● Working experience with Web Services and API integration You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in the role such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills. The role is based in our Northampton office. Purpose of the role To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. Accountabilities ● Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance. ● Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives. ● Collaboration with peers, participation in code reviews, and promotion of a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing. ● Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth. ● Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions. ● Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
