Job Title: Registered General Nurse (RGN) Location: Quedgeley, Gloucester (GL1) Job Summary: The Registered General Nurse (RGN) is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients in various healthcare settings. The RGN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care, ensuring that all clinical practices are carried out in accordance with healthcare regulations and standards. This role involves working with a multidisciplinary team to support patient recovery and promote overall health and well-being. Key Responsibilities: Patient Assessment and Care Planning: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical, emotional, and social needs. Develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring they meet the specific needs of each patient. Regularly review and update care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Clinical Care Delivery: Provide direct nursing care, including wound care, IV therapy, catheterization, and other clinical procedures. Administer medications and monitor patients for side effects or adverse reactions. Assist with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and mobility support. Monitoring and Documentation: Monitor patients conditions, recording vital signs and other relevant information. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting care provided, observations, and any changes in condition. Report any concerns or significant changes to the appropriate healthcare professionals. Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies. Provide information on medication management, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications. Support patients and families in understanding and coping with illness or injury. Infection Control and Safety: Adhere to infection control policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for patients and staff. Implement and monitor health and safety practices in the clinical setting. Participate in audits and inspections to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with doctors, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team. Participate in case conferences, care planning meetings, and other relevant discussions. Professional Development: Attend training sessions, workshops, and conferences to enhance skills and knowledge. Support the training and development of junior nursing staff and students. Engage in ongoing professional development, staying current with best practices in general nursing. Qualifications: Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a General Nurse. Diploma or degree in General Nursing. Experience in a general nursing setting, with a broad understanding of various medical conditions and treatments. Strong clinical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple patients effectively. Working Conditions: Shift work may be required, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting patients, and responding to emergencies. Working in various settings, such as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, or community healthcare settings.
